Idea of the Day: cold activated labels for Fla-Vor-Ice

By now you’ve probably seen the Coors Light commercials touting their “Cold-Activated” labels which turn blue when your beer is cold:

Sorry to say, but this seems to me like one of the dumbest things ever (if you say that some of my ideas are equally as dumb I won’t necessarily disagree). Seriously though, you need to be over 21 to drink in most states. By that age haven’t you figured out the difference between warm and cold?

Which leads me to wonder, at exactly what age do you figure out the difference between warm and cold? Can a three or four year old tell when something is ‘cold enough?’ I like the technology that Coors is using, but the application seems superfluous.

flavor_iceInstead, I’d use this technology on freezer pops like Fla-Vor-Ice (You know those ‘juice,’ ok colored-water-filled plastic sleeves that come in huge packs for $2.50 or so?). They come off the store shelf and need to go into the freezer before they are ready to eat. All the while your kids are asking “Are they ready? Are they ready?? Are they ready???”

The short answer could be “Has the label turned blue yet?”
