Idea of the Day: Offer a gentle reminder

reminderI have no idea when my last oil change was, or when the next one is due.

The problem, you see, is that the little peel-off sticker that’s supposed to live in the upper left-hand corner of my windshield fell off. Without it, I’m lost…and probably 5,000 miles or more overdue.

Which leads me to wonder, with all of the contact methods available to reach me (phone, facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, three email accounts and home address) why hasn’t Jiffy Lube dropped me a line. Is it something I said? I’m not an anarchist you know, I do believe in regular maintenance…I’m just forgetful.

I’ve seen their employees standing out in front of the facility waving ‘no waiting’ signs on occasion. I’d be willing to bet that they could pull open their files, send some emails or make some phone calls to existing customers and get far better results. Sometimes all it takes is a gentle reminder.
