Today’s guest post is contributed by Linda Sardone, a frequent readers with a really good idea. She writes:
Say you are in the market for several used books, CDs, DVDs, etc, from third party sellers who list their items on sites like amazon.com or half.com. You would like to combine these multiple media items and purchase from one seller if possible – less shipping cost, fewer transactions, etc.Wouldn’t it be nice if either of these shopping sites, or a third party, had an advanced search feature that allowed you to put in details about two or more generally similar items, in order to find a single seller for all? Ideally, you would be able to enter a combination of authors and titles to start the search.
Currently you have to do each item search one at a time, and then compare search results, which involves a lot of unnecessary page printing, or moving back and forth between online pages. The alternative is to choose a seller and then search that seller’s inventory for each item, one at a time.
I love Linda’s idea because I’ve had this experience before. It seems like a no-brainer to me, but neither of us could find examples of ecommerce sites that have integrated this kind of functionality yet. If you know of something, let us know ok?
