Idea of the Day: Extreme bowling

Kids these days.

It’s ‘extreme sport’ this and ‘extreme sport’ that. I swear, if it doesn’t fly higher and go “boom” louder than ever before, it’s no fun at all. And you know what? They might be right!

Check out this extreme pogostick, for example. It looks like fun!

This gets me thinking about other things that could use a little brushing off. Like golf, for example. How cool would it be if there were pressure and distance-sensitive golf balls that would explode if you hit them 250 or more yards away (only at the practice range, of course)? Ok, ok, that could get out of hand pretty quickly. So what about something a bit tamer, that would be used in controlled circumstances. Like bowling, for example?

Imagine pins that “pop open” when hit at the right angle, and with the right velocity. Maybe they would contain a prize. The reinvented game would be kind of like ‘pinatas vs. bowling balls’ and would include cool sounds and visual effects. The point here is that the activity of hitting wooden pins with balls has moved past its prime. It needs something more…umm…explosive, in a way that still maintains a family fun atmosphere.
