Yesterday my cousin posted a picture of a ring on Facebook. She was hoping that someone in her network might recognize the style and be able to tell her where to find another one like it.
This lead me to think, shouldn’t there be an application that would allow you to upload an image, then search the entire internet for similar images? Google Images would be the natural place for it. I bet the FBI has something like it already. And I know that the new version of iPhoto is smart enough to ‘learn’ faces once you have tagged them a couple of times.
Think of the possibilities: if you are looking for a matching product you’ll be able to find it. Or if you see a real hottie walking down the street and capture his/her picture, you’d be able to upload it and find them online.
Kind of spooky. But powerful too…
