If you’ve used something like Google Maps, you are aware that there are different kinds of web-based applications that give us information based on location. Another good example is one of the Twitter applications I use for my iPhone; if I click the ‘nearby’ option I can see what everybody around me (say from my town of Hopedale) is Tweeting.
I can imagine Match.com building an application based on this technology.
Say you belong to Match.com and you have a smartphone. Wouldn’t it be cool if your phone would notify you that another Match.com person just walked into the room? Based on preset filters you could pull up the person’s profile, find some common interests and discover a good way to approach him or her to say hello.
