Here’s one for you: try to name all of the stadiums and venues that carry the names of their corporate sponsor.
Good luck! In the Boston area alone we have the Dunkin Donuts Center, Comcast Center, TD Banknorth Garden (or whatever they are calling it this year), the DCU Center, Gillette Stadium…see my point? Corporate sponsorship is everywhere. So why not put those logos on money? Yeah, that’s right…I’m talking about federal currency here.
Say the Treasury allocates 20% of it’s cash for branding. How much do you think McDonalds, Microsoft, Cisco, Apple or the other biggies would pay to get their name on some of it? Jeesh, if a stadium name goes for $20 million or so…
