So you want to be more visible online? Cool. It’s not actually that hard, but it does help to know what you are getting into.
Think of Internet Marketing like driving from Boston to Santa Fe. You’d want a map or gps, right? With that in mind, let’s take a broad look at the landscape. How do you get there from here?
1. Let’s start with a simple formula:
What are your customer’s informational needs?
+ What is your expertise?
= Where is the intersection?
2. That intersection is where your Content Strategy comes from. If you want to build a sustainable Social Media platform it must start with a solid content strategy. So we can spend time in this area, discussing things like: “Who are your target customers?” , “What is their world view?” and “What are your core differentiators” and/or we can talk about tactics. Honestly, the tactics are the easiest part for most people. But many companies jump into implementation without a clear strategy…just like business building in general, really.
3. That said, there are some smart tactics involved here too. They fall under the general umbrella I call “Re-purposing Your Content.” This means you figure out those informational needs, build content that meets those needs, then package the same basic content in lots of different ways, as part of a pre-meditated, automated system, so you get lots of mileage without constantly reinventing the wheel.
That’s a general formula, but I’ll be glad to bring it around to your particular needs and areas of interest. To begin, why not listen to our podcasts? That’s your map right there, really. And for even better navigation you could check out the entire Free Marketing Made Easy Core Program for free!

I only just came across this post this evening since added BlogLink to my LI network and not sure how it works but your post came up. Many thanks for your contribution regarding my services… very much appreciated.
You’ve got the ‘goods’ alright!
Best Regards
Lenna
Thanks Lenna, I appreciate that. Hopefully your new acquaintance will benefit from the blogs and/or podcasts; they are very much intended for people who are non-experts in the Internet Marketing field. By the way, for the benefit of our other readers, Lenna offers transcription services that can prove extremely valuable when we are “re-purposing content” – that means taking something like an interview, for example, and using the core material to create a blog, article, Facebook post, etc. We cover that idea in our course, and here’s a real life person who could be a valuable contact for under-staffed entrepreneurs. So check out her site at http://www.audiotranscriptionservices.co.nz/
Oh, and we met on a LinkedIn group, of course. Practice what we preach and all, ya know?
Great article – I just finished emailing someone who I met for the first time, and who was asking me questions about marketing and getting his biz out there, so I will send him a link to this.
Cool!
