Idea of the Day: Blog Follower software

As part of the Free Marketing Made Easy course on Internet Marketing for entrepreneurs, I often speak about the importance of engaging in online conversation by following and commenting on other people’s blogs. This strategy pays off in increased traffic to your website, but it’s also a manual process to search for relevant blogs that are both appropriate to comment on, and widely read by the kind of visitors you want to attract to your site. This takes a lot of time.

I wish there was an automated software platform that could find the highest ranking blogs in my desired area, and determine (based on an algorithm of ‘clicks per comment’) which of these would be most likely to drive visitors to my site.

I would simply enter my search term (say “Internet Marketing” or “Small Business”) and the program would instantly find the top 50 blogs, then calculate which of those produce the most external traffic via visitors clicking on comment links. Then I’d visit those sites regularly and add relevant posts.

When I weigh the time and money it takes to keep up with this method of traffic generation (via opportunity cost or Virtual Assistant services) against a one-time purchase or continuity fee for an application that would handle it for me, the decision would be a no-brainer. Give me the software, please!
