I’m a big fan of life lessons and adventures! But just so you don’t think I’m too serious, here are some stories to show you a bit of my playful, creative side.
Not shown here but included in my loves are the other members of my family and our pets (4 cats and a Golden Retriever named Brady – I’m a passionate New England Patriots fan).
I also picked up an acoustic guitar a few months ago, and have been having a great time learning how to play.
As you can probably tell, I love the outdoors, especially in warm weather.
Travel is something that I can really appreciate as well, experiencing other cultures and meeting new friends while I’m there. My favorite places to visit have included Montreal, Punta Cana and Felton, California where I recently completed a life-long dream of walking among the redwoods.
This is just about as good as it gets! My wife, daughters and I took five days to explore the Disney theme parks in June 2007. The Magic Kingdom really is that. My coworkers and I all shared a passion for Disney and got to regale each other with stories several times each year.
Another splendid day, this one took place in Baxter State Park. On the way down the mountain we stopped at a placid pond that perfectly reflected Mount Katahdin. A bald eagle soared overhead, paused in mid-air, then swooped down – striking the water then ascending with a fish in its talons. It retreated to the shelter of a tall pine tree to reap its reward, then returned to the hunt.
We started out early, drove 15 miles up river then departed for a day-long canoe trip. Obviously the weather was perfect. Twelve hours later I was rejuvenated as I’ve ever been, having spent the entire day in the company of none other than bald eagles and loons.
Inspired by those incredible birds, I needed to know how it felt. The picture says it all…
This seemed like a good idea at the time, when my then four and five year old daughters asked if they could have a mud bath. Every one needs at least one, right? Six years later these two are still best friends.
The Conformity team attended our Annual Trade Show in Hawaii to celebrate the IEEE EMC Society’s 50th anniversary in 2007. I spent a week in Oahu, then another in Kauai. I have an entire ‘Kai Thriving’ album dedicated to this trip, but this photo comes pretty close to summarizing how absolutely amazing it was.
I used to help out my step-dad a bit each summer in his garden, but last summer was the first time I got serious about growing something on my own. Fortunately, my wife is great at this stuff, and I’m pretty handy with construction. The result of our organic harvest was aesthetically pleasing, nutritious, delicious and rewarding.
